I'm super excited to be putting my hand to some hand built ceramics this year!
I'm a lover of retro lady lamps, so I've rolled up my sleeves and I'm creating some "Shady Lady" lamps: a hip modern version with tattooed sleeves!
Here's a sneaky peek at the green ware (unfired slip cast) so far, fresh from the mould and hand painted.
To slip cast, each piece is hand poured into a hand built mould, which I created using an original hand sculptured clay model! It's like cloning. but with clay! Once they're out of the mould, I hand paint them individually and add 'sgraffito' tattoos. If you're scratching your head at that word right now...Sgraffito literally means to scratch in Italian! So each lady is individual and original! I'll be selling these as limited editions!
